FrontPage Screen Capture Tutorial Guide

March 24th, 2008

Did I mention these are screen capture tutorials? That’s a great way to begin. I didn’t start that way with FrontPage. I was gungho and didn’t need screen capture. But when I started learning Illustrator CS3 - now there’s a learning curve. Fortunately, the software included a month of lynda.com tutorials which had a series for illustrator. This came in very handy.

So I understand, when the learning curve is there, and if you’ve never created a web page, you have a curve, you need screen capture.

What is screen capture? That’s when I narrarate and use software to capture a picture of my screen along with my narraration. Thus, you can watch me work in FrontPage while I talk to you and tell you what you need to do. What do you think is easier, in the begining? Combing over text? Or watching screen capture?

If you are learning how to build a website for the first time, I’ve got you covered. Is it easy to look all over Google for this screen capture tutorial and that screen capture tutorial? Forget it! That’s not easy. Is it easy to pay? Yes, actually. You can pay fifty bucks and get what I’m offering for free. But… I’ve geared this to anyone who wants to start from scratch and build a site. I’m assuming you know nothing. Even if you do know something, the tutorials will be helpful. But I am assuming you know nothing. That way you don’t have to pause the videos and stop them and try to get a piece of information that goes by fast. I will repeat myself. I do that on purpose. If we were sitting together at the computer, I’d repeat myself. You’d ask me to repeat myself. I take all that into account.

I want you to learn how to put up your own site.  I offer the easiest solution. And you don’t have to pay!

FrontPage?

March 6th, 2008

I talked to a mom and pop web host guy today. He didn’t have FrontPage extensions. He didn’t like FrontPage, had a problem with it. He said that the FrontPage extensions allow FrontPage to be hacked.

So I look around at my other options, Joomla.org, among them. I tried downloading this thing… It will take you some understanding to get this up and working. The wordpress blog isn’t so easy, either.

You can buy something called Web pro or something like that for $50. Okay, my opinion on all this for now is…FrontPage. Sorry, guys. FrontPage out of date? Come on. FrontPage works great. It is great to learn on. You get wysiwig what you see is what you get. As clunky as FrontPage might be… You look at recommendations on the web. You see FrontPage or Dreamweaver. Let’s start with FrontPage. It is easier. You can pick up a 2003 version for not much money. (If you are going to pay $50 for “web pro” or whatever - just get FrontPage for a few dollars more.)

Let’s let Microsoft and the net work out the details. For now, FrontPage and FrontPage server extensions. Most of the bigger companies give you FrontPage extensions. Bluehost has great support. Let’s go with that.

If I find a better alternative to getting you going, I’ll teach you that. Let’s start with FrontPage. Buy the software and get going. Okay? Thanks. TJ

Answer: Not Really Your Own Website

February 27th, 2008

What is “a Template Site”, Alex.

Right you are, Tutorial Joe! That’s another hundred and you’re on the board…

When you own your own website, you can change it at any time. When you own your own website, you can put a LOT of content on it. Your pictures can be big. You can share more content because you have more bandwidth. The template site is chincy with that. Costs just about as much as having your own website, though…

A template website is any web deal you get where the host offers to create a site for you. This is not such a deal - for you, anyway. It’s a deal for whomever is hosting the product.

You think you are getting a deal. You’re not. Put just a LITTLE elbow grease into learning what you need to know anyway. Put your own site up.

You need help? That’s why you need good tech support. That’s why I go with  BLUEHOST.   Good tech support is important. Very.

I…notice many of these template sites don’t seem to have good tech support. You email them and hope you get an email back. With Bluehost, I call or chat live. I get help, within minutes.

That’s why I am an official affiliate and officially reccomend them. I am an affiliate of other hosting programs. But I don’t reccomend them. I reccomend Bluehost. Why, then, am I an affiliate of other hosting programs? Because if you choose another hosting program, and you click through TutorialJoe.com to them, I’ll make money! That didn’t take a lot of thought, now, did it?

In a sense I do recommend the other programs I have listed. I just don’t recomend them as highly because I am myself on Bluehost and I like them. I’ve been using them as a host for my site for over four years now, and, knock on wood, so far so good.

What many people fail to realize is that choosing a host is an important action. When you choose a template site host - yikes! You just don’t know what you are getting into.

Tell me now, how’s that going for you, the template site? The template site is good for an addition to having your own site. But it won’t take the place of it. Sorry. It won’t.

I Will Make It Easy to Use FrontPage

February 24th, 2008

It doesn’t have to be difficult to create a website. Many tutorials can make it seem that way. They are not necessarily going to take you step-by-step into creating a site that puts YOU on the web. You end up having to STUDY the tutorials, much as you would study a book. And about those books…

Okay, I’m a nerd. I’ll admit it. I LIKE to study the book. But I also want to take that information and translate it into actions that put me on the web. So I find…

Well, this is what I find:

You study the book and you find that there’s a lot of needless info. Also, there’s information that I can know later, I don’t need to know it now. Right now I want to get me on the web and I want to optimize myself, seo and all that, as best as I can without having to be a major nerd - and really, I’m a bit of a nerd, but I’m not a major nerd.

Also, when you study the book - this was happening for me just the other night - you pass by INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT info. It jsut passes you by. Oh, that? Yeah, THAT! Well, why didn’t you tell me how important that was? Well, I did mention it.

Look, I need more than mentioning.

Okay, the best thing is to have a book AND tutorials, but not just any tutorial. What kind of tutorial do you want to listen to? Now, this is important: Who has the best credentials for the tutorial? The person who has great tutorial credentials, or the guy who has used to program (FrontPage) to actually do something with it - not for others but for himself! And just to play around, or has he made money with the site? Has he used the site to bring in business - selling HIS product or service?

That’s what I’ve done. I use FrontPage to put me and my products and services on the web. That’s what I want to do for you.

You can get a book and study it. But maybe that’s why you haven’t started. You need a push, and a great set of tutorials is more likely to do that than is a book or a robotic set of tutorials.

Now, I’m not saying you can’t find the sort of tutorials I’m talking about. Quite possibly you can. But can you find it FREE?

Let’s Get YOU on the Web

February 23rd, 2008

All I’ve done so far for traffic to this site is put up one youtube video. That’s it. I will be doing more to create traffic. But the first piece is in place. I want you to know that. I have a great product. I am offering a wonderful value. If you read this and you are thinking about getting a website, or maybe you are sick of paying a webmaster or of having a template site - take control. You don’t have to know everything to put up your own site.

I’m here as a resource for you. I’ve been an artist most of my life. I’m a good artist, possibly a great one. But that doesn’t necessarily put the food on the table and a roof over my head. I’ve learned that not only must I value my own gifts, I must also value my customers. I must give them value, yes, but that’s not enough. I must listen to them. A good teacher - a great teacher - will do that. So I encourage comments, for sure. If you are having a problem with FrontPage and creating your site, talk about it. I’ll do what I can to make your process of creating your own site as painless and fun as possible.

Get that? I’m here to serve you. I’m here to make your process of creating your own site as much of a breeze as it can be. Creating your own site is FUN. Why should webmasters have all the fun? Why not allow the internet marketer to have some fun? Oh, because you are too busy doing all the other stuff. Okay, maybe you can afford to pay a webmaster. but I am thinking many of you cannot. It’s you, baby.

So you’ve got to get this thing going, and it won’t get off the ground unless you make it happen, and it ain’t going to happen if you just sit there and don’t learn how to create a site. If you shell out the bucks, are you really going to take control of this thing? In my experience, the control comes when you are uploading regular content to your blog and site. The reccomendation, if your blog is a commercial, or semi-commercial one, is to load it onto your site. That is, the blog has to be on your website. So do you want to pay a webmaster to do all that for you.

Look, this thing is doable without a webmaster. I’m a webmaster. But why pay me or anybody else? I’m also a webteacher, and that’s how I would like to empower you. So allow me to do that FOR FREE!

If you have the least inkling of making things happen on the web and doing this for yourself… Look, I’m not into selling a biz-in-a-box. I hate that stuff. Well, to be honest, I’ve tried some of that stuff, even though I knew better. What I think: You are going to win much better with your own content. That is, you are more likely to win with your own content.

What do you want to do? What can you do already? See, the thing is, you might not even have to start an internet biz apart from what you already do. How I got started: I have an artist site. I learned web through marketing my art on the web. I built my own site because I needed to get myself on the web.

What you will find: You can expand what you already do and what your business off the web might be. You put that stuff on the web and you get MORE. More money, more business, more recognition, all that. The web can be kind. So start with what you already know. If you have a business, put that biz on the web. If you are good at something, possibly a hobby, put that on the web. This can bring more professionalism to what you do.

You don’t have to buy into someone else’s MLM or whatever. Sure, you can try that. But let’s get down to brass tacks and all that. Let’s get pragmatic. Let’s get solid. You need to get YOU on the web. YOU, not someone else’s opportunity. Sure, you can do that as well if you like… But, hey, let’s get YOU on the web. How about it?

Watch the Tutorials Grow

February 21st, 2008

f017.jpg This is what you would have gotten had you opted in yesterday. This will not be what you get by later tonight when I’ve added more tutorials. Understand that I will keep putting in FrontPage tutorials until I have a complete and fantastic package. My wife asked me over dinner this evening, “Why would you do that?”

Good question. Why would I GIVE you my expertise and skill and knowledge and time and energy for FREE? Well, I keep thinking, a lot of people don’t get it about the internet. This includes my wife. I don’t tell her that because she hates it when I say she doesn’t “get” something.

I do get it about the internet. About this, anyway. You’ve got to really GIVE if you expect anything out of the net. And not a crummy little ebook. And not a PLR (Private Label Rights) product that’s been circulating since the net was born.

Look, if you can’t figure something out in FrontPage, or having to do with an issue close to that, comment on my blog. Your comment does not have to be related to what I’m talking about. Just have it deal with FrontPage or a related issue. I will either address that issue in the blog or in the tutorials. Of course, if you want the tutorials, you’ll have to opt-in, which I suggest you do because I provide value.

Get Started!

February 19th, 2008

Welcome. If you haven’t opted-in already, go ahead and do that if you want to learn FrontPage because I’m going to teach you FrontPage and it’s not going to cost you one DIME.

I’ll answer questions here on the blog as well as in tutorials. So get going with your comments. This is help. This is support. I won’t promise to answer every single question. but I will do what I can to give you the support you need. You’ll either get your answer in the blog, or you will get it in a new tutorial that will come up in the tutorial place that is open to subscribers.

Please realize. I understand the technology. I believe I understand what I have to do here. I want subscribers and I’m willing to work for them. That’s fantastic for YOU. The internet helps us. The internet connects my skill, expertise, and understanding with your need. The internet amplifies VALUE.

I want your opt-in. I am willing to GIVE you tutorials, response to your need for knowledge.

If you want to get started on the net, and you want to for not much money, here’s your chance.

When I was starting on the net, you know what I wanted? I wanted what I am offering now. That’s one reason I’m offering my knowledge, skill, and expertise at such an affordable (FREE) rate. I wanted someone to say, here’s what you do. Do this, and this. I didn’t want a template! I didn’t want a stupid biz-in-a-box. I don’t think those things work that great anyway. Maybe they do, but not for me. I am an artist. i need ot create my own content. I think we do better that way.

So if you are looking to get started, I’m here to help. What will I eventually want to sell you? Well, sure, okay. I’ll put you on the autoresponder and eventually try to sell you something. But… I VALUE you. You are, after all, an opt-in. That’s big. I recognize that.

I am going to bring VALUE to the table. I am not of the bent of a Yanik Silver. I like him, from what I’ve heard from him. But I’m not going to charge a ton for something. I know it’s a headache to take less. But, my heart’s in this.

I wanted someone to tell me, here’s how to do this, and that, and that. Some guidance, without intruding, without trying to sell me a biz-in-a-box. I WILL NOT  do that. I will not try to sell you a biz-in-a-box.

So opt-in and get the Early Bird special. Get all the FrontPage tutorials you can handle. I’m adding daily and weekly until I have a complete and extremely helpful package. THEN I’ll sell it. Maybe by then you’ll want to become an affiliate. You’ll sure by then be familiar with the product because you’ll have enjoyed it and will continue to enjoy it if you like for FREE.

You’ll be on my autoresponder. Want to learn more about autoresponders? That will come. Anything I’m doing here, I can teach. I love to teach. I have a passion for the net. So come on and enjoy. Learn. Without spending a DIME. Go see if you can find that anywhere else.

You get the free tutorials because you are an early bird. Good job. Now opt-in, get yourself FrontPage - 2003 on eBay. Let me take a look at what it’s selling for now.

I’m seeing that it’s selling for between 50 and 100 bucks. Nothing! Cheap! What’s of great value is my ability to teach you. Sure, and get a book. Get one from eBay or the like. The book will be helpful. Sure. But you aren’t going to get from a book what you’ll get from me. My tutorials are helpful, encouraging, and FILLED with knowledge, yet skillfully handed to you in a way that doesn’t overwhelm.

Give Tutorial Joe a try. You have NOTHING to lose and EVERYTHING to gain. Don’t get a template website. Don’t pay a webmaster. This is not impossible stuff. I can teach you.

Now, sure, get a webmaster if you know you need a webmaster. But don’t go pay your cousin a couple of bucks to come up with something and you have to wait until he can get to it and so on. That’s not the web. The web is YOUR CONTENT, every day. Can your cousin or friend of a friend do that for you? Think about it.

I’m offering you a sweet deal. Opt-in. If you need a website and have been sitting on the fence. Come on down. Let’s get that website built and running, ready for daily and weekly doses of content.
